DEMOLITION DAY

Many episodes of ‘Fixer-Upper’ have taught me that the start of most renovations usually begin with a demo-day. A day to destroy a couple walls and strip your old new place to see what you’re working with. Likewise with this project, an internal audit was done to breakdown the site to the essential pages and features that we wanted on the app (budget constraints, of course). Prioritizing the site-map first for the app was a crucial step to help designers focus and organize their process.

WIRING & FRAMING

After examining for structural issues in a fixer-upper, new plumbing, wiring and framing is created to set a solid foundation for the rest of the renovation. Similarly, discussions were had going back and forth on what was to be included and excluded in the new site-map. Low fidelity wireframes were then sketched out for each page.

PAINT & POLISH

In order to speed up production time, hi fidelity mockups were up next. Although a few iterations were made for interaction options, ultimately the decision was made to mimic the incumbent at the time as our time and budget for more research as well as tools were limited.

These were then sent to the developer for production. In the mean time prototype versions would be sent and updated upon user testing and debugging.
